A story of a successful collaboration between the government of Benin and the Getty Conservation Institute to preserve the heavily damaged bas-reliefs that once adorned the Dahomey royal palace Salle des Bijoux, now a museum within the royal compound. These royal bas-reliefs depict landmark events in the history of the Fon people of Benin, whose ancestors ruled the powerful kingdom of Dahomey.
