Describes the activities of Rene Cassin, the French Jewish jurist who was involved in the struggle for human rights and peaceful solutions for interstate conflicts. Pp. 150-153 deal with his proposal concerning the evacuation plan of French Jews to Argentina during the Vichy regime (1942). Discusses, as well, Cassin's idea of creating an international court for judging war crimes, and his contribution to defining "crimes against humanity" as formulated by the Nuremberg Tribunal (pp. 171-176).
